Edinburgh to host history festival about Scotland

History buffs may well want to stay in city centre accommodation in Edinburgh during a festival that reveals Scotland's past.

According to the Scotsman, the new festival, which will be known as Scotland's History Festival, will be a ten day event that is set to take place in November.

Plans for the event were unveiled by music festival organiser Ian Harrower and stand-up comedian Susan Morrison.

Mr Harrower told the news provider: "It's quite surprising Scotland doesn't have an event like this already.

"It's not just a one-off event, we're much committed to continuing it in future years, and extending it right across the country. The idea is to celebrate the rich, colourful and astonishing history of Scotland and its people, and their extraordinary contribution in shaping the modern world."

Organisers are hoping to attract around 30,000 attendees to the event, which will include walking tours, debates, exhibitions, lectures and film screenings.

There will also be poetry nights, storytelling sessions and comedy events.
