Last chance for visitors to discover Bathtime in Newcastle

Visitors who will be staying in hostels in Newcastle over the next few weeks may like to check out an exhibition about baths before it closes.

Bathtime is an audio-visual installation artwork that has been created by theatre designer Imogen Cloet and poet Jacob Polley.

It opened at the Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum on August 10th and its run will end on September 18th.

The collaboration allows visitors to find out about the people of Wallsend, such as shipbuilders, archaeologists, scholars and stable-hands between Roman times to present day.

The exhibition organisers state: "Come and hear about Bede's tunnel, shipbuilding in winter, Simpson’s hotel, the buzzer, bone-yards, bogeys and bicycles.

"Echoing through Segedunum's bathhouse, each story captures something precious about being human, about history and empire, great change and changing rooms."

Adults tickets for the exhibition cost £4.50, while concessions can get in for £2.70.

However, people attending between September 8th and 11th can go for free as part of the Heritage Open Days 2011.
