Tales to be told at the 21st Scottish International Storytelling Festival

There's a treat in store for people staying in Edinburgh hostels this October as the annual Scottish International Storytelling Festival snuggles down to a good yarn for the 21st time.

The national celebration of both traditional and contemporary storytelling will feature performances, storytelling workshops and discussions, live music and dance and a whole range of different activities to get involved in.

Organised by the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh, most of the events are happening there but other events will happen across the nation in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee too.

This year's theme is 'An Island Odyssey: Scotland and Old Europe' so audiences can expect to see a cultural exchange between the Scottish Isles' Celtic myths and the Greek and Roman mythology of the Mediterranean.

With over 45 events across ten days, highlights of the festival are set to include a host of free 'meet the storyteller' dates where each night different storytellers will delight listeners with an episode of Homer's Odyssey.

The Scottish International Storytelling Festival is happening in various venues between Friday 21st and Sunday October 30th.
