A world of magic opens at the Museum of Childhood

Edinburgh hostel guests can visit a magical world with the opening of a new exhibition at the city's Museum of Childhood.

Magic Worlds, the latest exhibition to open at the popular museum explores the history of magic, from the Indian rope trick to the stunning illusions of modern magicians like Derren Brown.

The lives of fairy tales and fantasy literature and the influences behind many of the world's greatest conjurers are all dealt with in this fantastical exhibition.

Visitors are taken on a mystical journey of witches and wizards, fairies and mythical creatures.

Displays will include tricks and illusions, costumes and toys with plenty of interactive activities.

You're never too old to enjoy magic, and this exhibition has more than one trick up its sleeve for visitors with a keen eye for an illusion.

Magic Worlds opens at the V&A Museum of Childhood on Saturday October 8th and runs until Sunday March 4th 2012.

The museum is open from 10am until 5.45pm, seven days a week. Entrance is free.
