Former US graffiti artist puts on show at Newcastle gallery
A new exhibition at the Lazarides Outsiders gallery offers people staying at hostels in Newcastle an opportunity to see a truly underground art show.
For this show, Lazarides has brought acclaimed Washington DC graffiti artist across the pond for a stunning gallery exhibition.
Favouring watercolours, oil sticks, drawings, photography and film, Borf – real name John Tsombikos – is not like traditional graffiti artists who stick to the medium of spray paint.
Approaching his pitiful and angry subject matter from a more melancholic and idealistic perspective, this is 24-year-old Borf's first ever solo UK show.
Located on Newcastle's Quayside, Lazarides' The Outsiders gallery is the brainchild of Steve Lazarides, the man who reportedly acts as the agent for notorious street artist Banksy.
Borf – See Something, Say Something runs at Lazarides' The Outsiders gallery until Saturday November 19th. The gallery is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm until 6pm and entrance is free.
