International Print Biennale returns to Tyneside

People staying in hostels in Newcastle will get the chance to take in a fantastic art festival as the International Print Biennale returns to Tyneside.

Running throughout November and beyond, a series of outdoor exhibitions from some of the leading printers and designers from around the world takes the majestic art form into perhaps the most pure of galleries – the streets.

As a result of the Biennale, new street art will be emerging in Newcastle, with the city's Ouseburn area a particular focal point for artists.

One such artist involved in the festival is Parra, a renowned street artist from Amsterdam who has been specially commissioned to print work for the Biennale.

Festival director, Anna Wilkinson, said: "We are really excited to be taking print-making out into public spaces.

"People engage with posters and print everyday so to be able to present an artistic response using this medium as part of the festival is fantastic."

The International Print Biennale is taking place in venues and outdoors all over Newcastle. The majority of events finish on November 19th, though some of them run until January. Many are free to enter.
