Critically acclaimed crooner comes to Newcastle

People staying in hostels in Newcastle will get the chance to see Malcolm Middleton, a man described as one the "most underrated and vital songwriters" in Britain, when he performs in the city in December.

Following a self-imposed two-year 'song strike', Middleton returns for a UK tour which includes the Cluny 2 venue in Newcastle's Ouseburn valley.

A member of legendary Scottish indie-rock band Arab Strap, Middleton took a break from writing what he felt were sub-standard songs to focus on gardening before returning for this tour.

With a raft of music under his belt, Middleton will be performing both new and old music at this gig, including tracks from the five solo albums he has produced.

Set in the intimate confines of the Cluny 2, a wonderful theatre-esque venue in the basement of a Victorian bottle factory, it is sure to be the perfect stage for Middleton to perform his delicate acoustic songs.

Malcolm Middleton plays the Cluny 2 on Tuesday December 13th. Tickets cost £12.50.
