Sunday afternoon spoken word in Scotland

An eclectic event loosely based around spoken word brings alternative Sunday afternoon entertainment to people staying in hostels in Glasgow.

Words Per Minute has spent the past year providing a platform to up-and-coming talent in Glasgow, whether they're poets, writers, beatboxers, musicians or comedians.

Each performer gets ten minutes to entertain their audience, with a DJ set from Miaoux Miaoux to finish off the gig.

A diverse array of performers take to the stage every time and the crowd never knows who is going to appear or what kind of performance they're going to be exposed to.

Held at The Arches on Argyll Street, the venue which hosts theatre, club nights, art exhibitions and gigs as well as having its own lovely cafe is the perfect location for such an artistic unravelling as Words Per Minute.

The event is now so popular that The Herald has claimed it has "enlivened the literary scene in Scotland with its mix of genres and styles".

Words Per Minute is at The Arches in Glasgow on Sunday December 11th from 4pm until 6pm. Tickets are £5 and are available from the venue's website.
