Witness the sickness! Roots Manuva heads to Glasgow

Legendary UK hip hop artist Roots Manuva is preparing to play at The Arches in January, bringing fans of the iconic rapper to hostels in Glasgow.

Having just released his seventh studio album, 4everevolution, to widespread acclaim, Roots Manuva is returning to the venue on Argyle Street to perform it live.

Many feared that the controversial musician from Stockwell in south London, whose real name is Rodney Hilton Smith, had his best days behind him after notoriously battling addiction problems.

But the latest album, released on the Big Dada label in October, has proved Smith has more strings to his bow, with 19 tracks taking his music to a new place and a new audience while not disappointing his traditional fanbase.

With his Banana Klan getting involved in the album, real instruments and his traditional darkly electronic samples have been brought to the fore in an LP and track that are bound to excite fans new and old.

Roots Manuva plays at The Arches in Glasgow on Thursday January 26th. Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost £15 plus booking fee.
