Springsteen sees the Light and confirms stadium show

Bruce Springsteen is heading to the north-east for an epic stadium concert, making hostels in Newcastle a perfect base for fans heading to the gig.

The Boss is all set to perform at Sunderland's Stadium of Light in June 2012, as one of only three UK dates next year.

Along with his legendary E Street Band, Springsteen has lined up to play at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium and Hyde Park in London, marking the first dates in Britain since the star headlined at the Hard Rock Calling festival back in 2009.

The superstar has sold over 120 million albums across the globe and could fill a swimming pool with his awards, with 20 Grammys, two Golden Globes and an Oscar among those collected in his career.

Announcing the star's appearance, Margaret Byrne, Sunderland Athletic Football Club's chief executive, said: "The announcement of the Bruce Springsteen concert is the icing on the cake of a fantastic summer of live shows at the Stadium of Light."

The football club has also confirmed that Coldplay and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers will perform at the stadium in the same month that Springsteen pays a visit.

For fans staying in city centre accommodation in Newcastle, getting to these concerts could not be easier, with the Stadium of Light just a short Metro ride away.

Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band play at the Stadium of Light on Thursday June 21st 2012.

Tickets for the concert go on sale at 9am on December 3rd and are priced at £55 plus booking fee.
