Susan Boyle dreams a dream in Newcastle

Currently helping producers put the finishing touches to a musical about her life, Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle will make an exclusive appearance in front of Newcastle hostel guests when I Dreamed A Dream makes its world premiere in the city.

The musical charts the extraordinary rise to fame of the unlikely Scottish singer who has become a global icon since appearing on the television talent contest in 2009.

Having helped write the production, the show will be unveiled to the world at Newcastle's Theatre Royal next year starring Elaine C Smith, better known as Mary Doll from the BBC's Rab C Nesbitt, as Susan.

Discussing the musical and her appearance in Newcastle, Susan said: "I am thrilled to be a part of the musical about my life story and very much looking forward to stepping on stage and performing with the cast."

She added that the show represents an honest portrayal of her life and that she found being involved in its production to be very much a cathartic process.

I Dreamed a Dream runs at Newcastle's Theatre Royal from Friday March 23rd until Saturday March 31st. Tickets are priced between £14.50 and £40.50 and are on sale now.
