Sell-out play brings difficult subjects to the Northern Stage
Having sold-out its runs in London and Manchester, Mogadishu is heading for a run at the Northern Stage, giving people staying in hostels in Newcastle the chance to see the compelling drama.
Written by Vivienne Franzmann and directed by Matthew Dunster, Mogadishu is a play that explores the issues of youth and race, class and justice.
Amanda is a white teacher in a secondary school and when she is shoved to the floor by Jason, a black student, she questions reporting the incident for fear that the subsequent exclusion will blight his future.
Yet when Amanda discovers that Jason has spun his own story of the incident, she finds herself consumed by a whirlwind of attention in which roles are reversed and victim become aggressor.
How long can relationships, careers and lives survive under the scrutiny?
Mogadishu runs at Northern Stage from Tuesday March 20th until Saturday March 24th.
Shows start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £19.50 or £24. Concessions are priced at £12.50.
