Newcastle Theatre Royal celebrates its 175th birthday

The iconic Theatre Royal has stood proud on the historic Grey Street for 175 years now, and people staying in hostels in Newcastle have been invited to come and join in the party celebrations.

Over four days in February, the Theatre Royal will be hosting an array of fiery events, with magic, mischief, feasts and fireworks aplenty.

Bringing a winter street party feel to the city centre, there will be a pre-birthday party party on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th, with pretty pyrotechnics brought in to warm up for the real celebrations over the weekend.

On Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th, Grey Street will be transformed as characters who have appeared on the Theatre's stage over one and three-quarter centuries appear on the street to perform a Royal spectacle.

The Theatre Royal's 175th Birthday Blaze takes place from Thursday February 16th until Sunday February 19th.

All events are free and unticketed and begin at 6pm.
