Glastonbury Festival competition winner comes to the Cluny 2

A wonderful wee band from Leeds are heading a bit further north in April, bringing their delectably delicate brand of poppy folk-rock to the Cluny 2 stage. If you're staying in a hostel in Newcastle you should definitely check them out!

Ellen and the Escapades play a lovingly upbeat style of alt folk that has garnered plaudits from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Rough Trade, but their real break through came in 2010 when they won the Q Magazine and Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition.

Last year they played a total of five different stages at the iconic music event on Worthy Farm, as well as a clutch of other festivals, before heading off on a UK tour for their EP Of All The Times that sold out venues near and far.

With Ellen's captivating vocals and lush lyrics melting audiences into a puddle, they even release their own material through the label Branch Out Records. The quintet are the real deal!

Ellen and the Escapades with support from Paper Aeroplanes play at the Cluny 2 on Saturday April 21st. Tickets cost £6 and doors open at 8pm.
